About the Event
Writing for Chronic Wellness is the second workshop in our Writing for Wellbeing series. As chronically ill creatives, we wanted to create a space for chronically ill and disabled people to share their stories and connect with each other. You are not alone in this. It is time to elevate the voices of people with chronic illnesses, to share stories and be heard.
We welcome you to join us for a reflective two-part course as we invite you into a safe space and support you to explore your  chronic illness journey through meditation, writing, connection, reflection, poetry and affirmations. Â
Our last workshop we held a 3 hour indulgent and wholesome self-care evening. However, we honour and respect that for some people that is a long time. So that’s why we have broken it up into two sessions: June 19th 6pm-7:30pm and June 26th 6pm-7:30pm. There will be the opportunity for breaks. If there is anything we can do to make this online workshop more accessible or comfortable for you, please let us know by dropping us a message before the workshop.  We are very understanding and want to encourage you to do what you need to make yourself as comfortable as possible; whether that is coming in your pjs, keeping your camera off, lying down or having regular breaks, we invite you to listen to and honour your body.
If you have difficulty writing due to pain, fatigue or for any other reason, do not worry! There are other ways you can reflect such as recording yourself, creating a collage or just verbally reflecting to the group. You will also be sent a recording of the sessions afterwards in case you want to go back and listen to any of your creations or reflections. The most important thing is that you are holding space for you and your chronic illness so do what feels right for you, there is no pressure or judgement from us, we understand.   Â
Allow yourself to have this time and space to explore your journey, process emotion, recognise cycles of behaviour and patterns of flair ups, Â curiously reflect upon your relationship with our chronic illness and feel empowered to practice self-care and about the future.
